Why choose us?
At Tokyo Frogs, we offer an Open Water course that stands out from the rest. Our commitment to NAUI's core principles of dive safety through education and the "loved ones" concept sets us apart. We believe in training our students to a level where we can confidently send them diving with our loved ones, knowing they will be in capable hands. Our course is designed to prioritize your safety and ensure your confidence and comfort underwater.

Unlike other courses you may find, our Open Water course is slightly longer but for good reason. We dedicate two days to training in the diving pool and an additional two days in the ocean. This extended training period ensures that every student becomes stable, confident, and comfortable underwater. We emphasize the development of automatic responses to emergencies and equip you with the skills to handle potential problems and issues safely and calmly.

With Tokyo Frogs, you can dive with peace of mind, knowing that you have received comprehensive training and are prepared for any situation that may arise. Choose us as your diving partner, and embark on your scuba diving journey with confidence and safety as our top priorities.

E-learning
You will get access to e-learning and online tests that you can take at your pace.
E-learning must be completed before the pool session.
Day 1 (pool)
We will review basic swimming, snorkeling and freediving skills in the pool. Then you will learn to assemble scuba gear and do your first dives in the controlled environment.
By the end of the day you will learn all the fundamental scuba procedures and emergency drills
Day 2 (pool)
We will continue exercises in the pool, perfecting your trim, practicing extra emergency procedures and rescue techniques.
By the end of the day you will be ready for your first dives in the open water and you will also be ready to rescue yourself and your buddy in case of any sort of emergency
Day 3 (open water)
We will do the first 3 shore dives, exploring the wonders of ocean and continuing to get used to the scuba gear and procedures.
By the end of the day you would be able to plan your dives (depth, distance, air management), be in full control of your gear and feel calm and confident during the dives
Day 4 (open water)
We will do 2 more shore dives in the ocean to review everything you have learned, practice navigation and search skills.
By the end of the day you will know how to plan and conduct a buddy dive (without a guide or an instructor). If you have completed all the skills, you will also get certified

Logistics

The course is normally split over 2 weekends. One weekend is done at the diving pool and the second one - at the beach. In most cases both locations would be in Izu peninsula, so we usually prefer to travel there on Friday night, spend 2 nights in the local hotel and come back to Tokyo on Sunday evening.
We do not provide transportation, but we help participants to organize carpool.
